Another deadly virus is just around the corner: coronavirus, as predicted by evolution…

Since it was predicted, what had been done to prevent it?

We have all sorts of experts visiting TSZ, such as immunologists, population geneticists, biochemists, and the like…

What have they done in this field?  How about ID?

What are you doing personally to protect yourself, and your family,  from another possible epidemic?

I have lived through SARS, wearing full protective gear for many days. My wife was doing initial screening at the hospital entrance, while few months pregnant…

Is same, or worse, yet to come?

  1. Seems as Mrs F was just on an international flight she should self-isolate too. So we need to give the neighbours a certificate to authorize them to get stuff for us. I’m waiting for it to download but it hasn’t so far. I wonder if others are trying to download one too.

  2. Alan Fox: I’m sorry, I saw your earlier comment before you set out for Bourg but I assumed you would be cancelling. My daughter tells me there was an earlier advisory order to close places of entertainment, bars etc. which was followed for Saturday night and everyone was back partying on Sunday.

    Well, plenty of travel firms were flying people to resort in good faith on the Saturday, so that info never got to them. Neither UK nor French government websites had anything about a travel advisory, which is why I thought I might as well go see. Can’t claim on insurance without such notices anyway, so I either lose money for nothing or take a chance. And at 5pm Saturday the resort was expecting to be open till April; according to my sources the closures were unexpected.

    Chaos again today. Rather than get everyone out, there’s a skeleton service, so everyone crammed together in carriages, very healthy. While I understand the rationale, the mismanagement isn’t helping. Still, I’ve just left Lyon, so fingers crossed!

    I’d lay the blame with the Gummint on that one then, as per previous comment! Some planes were turned around in midair I believe. Meribel sent people straight back to Geneva. It certainly wasn’t common knowledge prior to the Saturday announcement in the Isère region, according to my hosts who keep a close eye on the local Facebook groups. Some 30,000 skiers ended up out there, some still are.

    Made it! Icing on the cake was a fatality in London causing a 2 hour closure and many cancellations. But now chez moi.
