    And when your a fuckwad, you forget we were talking about variation around a mean, and how divergence falsifies that hypothesis. It doesn’t matter that we’re all still the same species, the fact that divergence is observed among isolated populations shows that there’s no mean and no magic force keeping populations close to it. Simply because there’s little to no gene flow across these populations, so logically, mutations accumulate separately and populations diverge.

    Genes live in almost infinite sequential space. How do you find limited function by random change resulting in improvement?

    Evolution doesn’t search the entire sequence space. In each generation it only searches the space immediately adjacent to an already working protein where it’s possible to find small improvements as the environment changes.
