  1. keiths: She turned 21 this year. How old is your cat?

That’s pretty amazing. I think I have mine down at around 10 years in the vet records, but I really don’t know his exact age. He was a rescue cat, already full grown when I got him.

  2. I’ve been really fortunate. My other cat made it to 20. He died just a couple of years ago.

But boy, is it hard to lose them after that much time.

  3. keiths: But boy, is it hard to lose them after that much time.

Absolutely. It took me a while to bring this guy on after the loss of my previous one. Been there.

  4. We’ve had six cats over the last forty years. 2 male, 4 female, 2 rescue 4 strays; Our first, a male stray strayed again, to the neighbours (ultimate fate unknown). Our next, a rescue female was killed by a car shortly after we moved from a rural to an urban location. My wife then rescued a female kitten from the neighbour she judged not fit to raise cats and she stayed with us 17 years before succumbing to a brain tumour.

In France our first cat turned up on our doorstep aged about 6 months. She stayed with the new house owner when we moved and we still see her regularly. Our second, a stray male, just disappeared without trace after a couple of years. Now we have Bob!

My sister’s there right now. She lost a great cat a few years ago and still isn’t ready for a new one.

Petey had balls — not literally, since he was neutered, but figuratively. My sister and her husband live in Alaska, and Petey was fascinated by moose and would actually stalk them in the woods behind the house. He wouldn’t pounce, though.

They found him dead back there one day, with no visible bite marks or scratches. Their best guess is that he got too close to a moose who got annoyed or spooked and kicked him. Or maybe Petey finally pounced.

  6. I suppose next we’ll have cat dialogs in Polish. Cats and dogs living together.

A 21 year old cat? Have you ever thought that the reason you smell like a dry cat is that your cat is mummified?

Mine is 19 and sings us the song of her people every day starting around 5:00 am. Some mornings a mummified cat seems like a good idea.

(Interesting to see that even no rules Noyau eventually begins discussing cats. The Internet has its own narrative imperative.)

It’s just part of a great feline conspiracy.

  9. Rumraket: You simply can’t make that kind of extrapolation.

And yet evolutionary theory makes even more wildly improbable extrapolations as a matter of course and you don’t even blink an eye. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and all that. It’s the “skeptical way.”

The Way. That sounds so religious. 🙂

I see you’ve even got it plugged in!

(Mine is softer, though, even than the bunny. I know this, because he is the softest thing on earth (if not in the whole galaxy–there’s an ongoing dispute about that).

  11. walto,

Post a picture of Soft Cat!

    Reciprocating Bill,

I always look for books in the backgrounds of people’s photos. Is that a book called “Spine” behind Hallelujah Cat?

It’s “The Psychology of Spine Surgery” by Block, Gatchel, Deardorff and Guyer.

(Take away message? Don’t injure your spine.)

  13. walto: I see you’ve even got it plugged in!

That’s just the recharge line for when it’s dark; technically she’s solar powered (at least, that’s my thinking given the amount of time she spends lounging in sun spots.)

    I don’t know…that there potato bun is pretty soft…

I concur with that take away…

  15. keiths: I’m speaking of cases in which a person knows that he or she is wrong, but refuses to admit it for various emotional reasons. Sometimes a mistake really is so obvious that the person can’t plausibly claim to be unaware of it.

What we obviously need are more rules and loads more moral outrage. The opprobrium! Hurry up and hit us with that list of expectations for how to be an appropriately moral skeptic.

  16. Too bad Richie won’t be testifying. He could easily make the case against evolutionism

  17. Yes, Richie, if I need help making my case I will let you know. Please hold your breath while you wait

  18. OMagain is a liar and deluded. No one has tested the claims of evolutionism. No one can test the claim that ATP synthase arose via stochastic processes.

Evolutionists are such pathetic little liars

  19. I wonder if Koons regrets saying that.

It’s one of my favorites, along with Pastor Ray Mummert’s lament:

We’ve been attacked by the intelligent, educated segment of the culture.

  20. I see that OMagain is proud to be a dishonest and cowardly little wanker.

    Life is good

  21. I’ve had OMagain on Ignore in the past, but I don’t like putting people on ignore and took him off (again). But I do think the world became a better place when I finally got him to put me on ignore.

  22. Mung,

I have it on ignore but sometimes I read his tripe for entertainment. However OM is a broken record who can only repeat its oft-refuted trope

  23. As predicted OM strikes again with more cowardly ignorance. Evolutionists are such a bunch of shit-eaters with no integrity.

  24. That Mung chap at UD is a hoot!

Anyone who knows what a tree is — that is, a graph in which any two nodes are connected by exactly one path.

Exactly one path. Almost like evolution is guided.

Tree of life mostly complete mystery

Funny how it’s always “almost like”, never “demonstrates that”. The stronger claim would be that the graph can be connected any old way the designer likes it. But no, Mung et al accept evolution in it’s entirety it seems and just say it’s guided because reasons. And that’s apparently good enough.

  25. Frankie: As predicted OM strikes again with more cowardly ignorance. Evolutionists are such a bunch of shit-eaters with no integrity.

Did I? Perhaps you can quote me where that happened? Then we can all see what you consider unacceptable behaviour 🙂

  26. Finally watched ‘the case for Christ’. Lots of clergy have thought about the bible and are convinced. Also, the bible is supported by the bible. 0_o
