  1. Ah, over at UD Mung gives us some insight into his “evolution as a search” fixation:

    “1

Deny that evolution is a search algorithm.

Deny that a search algorithm is designed to solve problems.

Deny that evolution has found by means of search the solution to any problem.

Deny that the size of sequence space matters.

Assert that programs using evolutionary algorithms have refuted the central claims of ID.”

  2. Patrick: The prime directive of the site is to “park your priors at the door.” You seem quite resistant to doing so.

    LoL

Rethinking Darwin can only help ID. After all, Darwin is allegedly the only known ID replacement.”

Mung, you’re as bright as O’leary. Evolutionary theory, being a religion, must remain unchanged from Darwin’s original version that he carved into stone finch beaks over 100 years ago.

WD400 @ 64. If I had to resort to evasion, dissembling, and bad faith to defend my position, I hope I would rethink my position. It does not seem to bother you. It should.”

“Readers have the option of scrolling past and this is the thread where rules are relaxed for such discussions.”

    Barry’s purse, Mung.

  7. Talk about being unaware:

If I had to resort to evasion, dissembling, and bad faith to defend my position, I hope I would rethink my position. It does not seem to bother you. It should.

That encompasses all evolutionists. Strange that an evolutionist posted it.

  8. Feminists against Transgenderism:

    http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Trans-exclusionary_radical_feminism

Trans-exclusionary radical feminism (or TERF; also Trans women exclusionary feminism, or TWEF) is a subgroup of radical feminism characterized by transphobia, especially transmisogyny,[Note 1] and hostility to the third wave of feminism. They believe that the only real women™ are those born with a vagina and XX chromosomes.[Note 2] They wish to completely enforce the classic gender binary, supporting gender essentialism.

The term “TERF” is not used by those in the group, who consider it a damnable slur, and think of themselves as perfectly reasonable radical feminists[2] (and, indeed, the only thing that should be called “feminism”).

  9. keiths: Yes, we know you’ve been fixed.

Too many offspring. You morons were losing the evolutionary race and you still haven’t caught up.

  10. Mung: Too many offspring. You morons were losing the evolutionary race and you still haven’t caught up.

    Quality counts more than quantity.

  11. Tragic flyby, Mung. The distance between you and Joe Gallien is now imperceivable.

It was a drive-by. A flyby couldn’t get low enough.

  13. Lenski slammed by Discovery Institute Fellow Scott Minnich:

In summary, E. coli can rapidly mutate to a Cit+ phenotype in a relatively short time if subjected to direct selection. This indicates that the 33,000 generations to potentiate the evolutionary resources for the Cit+ phenotype do not reflect a direct requirement but merely experimental conditions. As such, Cit+ mutants exemplify the adaptation capability of microorganisms but, as of yet, the LTEE has not substantiated evolution in the broader sense by generation of new genetic information, i.e., a gene with a new function. Interestingly, our findings parallel the conclusions from bacterial starvation studies by Zinser and Kolter (44) in which E. coli adaptations were dominated by changes in the regulation of preexisting gene activities rather than by the generation of new gene activities, de novo. The LTEE isolation of Cit+ mutants has become a textbook example of the power of long-term evolution to generate new species. But, based on our results, E. coli arrives at the same solution to access citrate in days versus years, as originally shown by Hall (14). In either case, genes involved in the process maintain their same function but show expanded expression by deregulation. Because of this, we argue that this is not speciation any more than is the case with any other regulatory mutant of E. coli. A more accurate, albeit controversial, interpretation of the LTEE is that E. coli’s capacity to evolve is more limited than currently assumed.

  14. LOL! Did Minnich really use the tired old Creationist argument “evolution can create no new information”? Yet he and the rest of the DI’s IDiots wonder why they’re laughingstocks in the scientific community.

Looks like KF turned off comments too.

If KF at least showed up just once in his opponent’s territory, that would look a little more courageous. Someone truly confident in their views and believing they are defensible should be eager to engage the opposing view point.

Can you still post over yonder, Rich, or are among the banned like me?

KF could be courageous like you were Sal when you had moderation powers. Like when you changed people’s words and add your own to their sentences without attribution to make it seem they agreed with you. That was one of the most confident, bravest things a YEC has ever done, ever.

  18. Richardthughes,

There were two commenters who disagreed with Gordon Mullings (dba KairosFocus) on that thread. And they have both since been banned from UD. What a surprising coincidence.

  19. Richardthughes: Mung, If you’re going to cheerlead with the Titanic band, please stay on it.

If I go down with the ship it will be due to grasping at your balls and finding nothing there to hang on to. Why don’t you stop relying on everyone else here to carry your water?

  20. stcordova,

“Because of this, we argue that this is not speciation any more than is the case with any other regulatory mutant of E. coli.”

But a change in protein function would be speciation? Since when?

  21. This site is dead.

It would take the return of Elizabeth to raise it to life.

    And how likely is that?

TSZ, yet another baby tossed into the nearest dumpster.

Unlike that bastion of science, Uncommon Descent.

The top two posts over the last thirty days were:

    1) The End of Reasonable Debate.: A William J. Murray OP about how us leftists demonize the opposition to stop debate. 797 comments, 779 of which were about homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

    2) The Perils of Prolonged, March of Folly-Triggeres crisis (of watersheds, slippery slopes and divide and ruin…): An OP by Gordon (KairosFocus) Mullings about how same sex marriage and transgender bathroom bills will cause the end of civilization as we know it. 895 comments about, you got it, homosexuality and same-sex marriage. With a sprinkling of the evils of transgendered using women bathroom.

And not in the top five yet, but quickly working its way up there:
Why There is (And Should Be ) No Legal Right top Transgender Protections: A William J. Murray OP about, you guessed it, homosexuality and transgender issues, and the evils of them. 330 comments and growing.

The high quality of the science being discussed there is amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t result in a Nobel or two.

LOL! Wow! That’s a hoot! I particular like the pearl-clutching that a transgender using a women’s bathroom causes, but no mention of any issue with a transgender using a men’s room.

It would be fun to pluck about thirty or so comments randomly from those OPs and splice together a designed (natch) thread. I’m betting we could create a bunch that would pass as natural.

  25. Kantian Naturalist: Four people who contribute nothing of value to any conversation here, and wouldn’t be missed if they left.

Would you be missed if you left? It’s not as if your own philosophical leanings are the basis of the beliefs of anyone else here at TSZ.
