Moderation Issues (5)

Please use this thread for (and only for) alerting admins to moderation issues and for raising complaints arising from particular decisions. We remind participants that TSZ is a benign dictatorship, the property of Dr. Elizabeth Liddle. All decisions regarding policy and implementation are hers alone.

  1. hehehehe. I only noticed that recently. So I apologize for my failure to comply. As you know I utterly agree with the sentiment.

  2. I have some ideas for the next OPs. I would like bloggers opinions as to what they would like to see posted either at TSZ or at Sal’s new blog.

    1. Few Questions you would like to ask God
    2. The Narcissism Epidemic
    3. Is Gender Evolution and evolutionary dead end?
    4. Do we have 100 % free will?
    5. Are any of our monkey cousins straightening out?
    6. What is creationism?
    7. What is the mechanism of evolution?
    8. Did God guide the evolution after the Noah’s Flood?
    9. Did Einstein admit he was wrong about TIME? Or, just about one dimension of it?
    10. Can truth be found at TSZ?
ETA: Who really reads TSZ? Does TSZ matter?

  3. J-Mac,

Be careful. If Alan or Neil doesn’t like you, they could ban you for talking about things that aren’t moderation in the moderation page.

Post them all at Sal’s new blog. Perhaps one day you’ll realize that the rest of the world is getting on with actual work while you are all navel gazing, patting each other on the back for showing those pesky evolutionists.

J-Mac: 8. Did God guide the evolution after the Noah’s Flood?

I’d ask your opinion on that but I already know what you’ll say. Just like every other single question you are asked.

  5. phoodoo: Be careful. If Alan or Neil doesn’t like you, they could ban you for talking about things that aren’t moderation in the moderation page.

    Concern troll much?

  6. OMagain: Post them all at Sal’s new blog. Perhaps one day you’ll realize that the rest of the world is getting on with actual work while you are all navel gazing, patting each other on the back for showing those pesky evolutionists.

    I’m so sorry OMagain!
I know the world is getting on with the actual work and I assume you are one of those who does the work…It’s admirable…

I have expressed my doubts about God’s intervention in earthly life before, during and after Noah’s flood more than once on this and may other blogs, as well as in my correspondence with the leading scholars and ID supporters.
I’m sorry OMgain that you either missed it, or my response wasn’t satisfying enough for you…

  7. I just posted a new OP. I’m sorry I’m late it was pouring rain and everything was delayed even my kids pizza and my favorite barbecue…
Admins! Please post! The world has been waiting lol

  8. I would like to thank ALL the admins for their swift response and hard work!
    Thanks you again!!!
ETA: Yes, the admins are not perfect like keitparitcks… So be it…

  9. Alan Fox: Anyone else getting error 500 Internal Service Error?

    No, not seeing that.

However, I seem to recall having such an error around 4 or 5 days ago. So I waited 5 minutes and reloaded the page. And all seemed fine.

Right now the site is slow at loading pages. There’s probably some busy activity on the host system somewhere.

  10. Patrick and Keisths are violating the spirit of Keiths suspension! However, I don’t think measures should be taken against Patrick directly. Just extend Keiths suspension for another 6 months for violating the spirit of his suspension. Let Patrick just keep posting Keiths emails.

  11. Alan Fox:
    Slightly worrying!

Anyone else getting error 500 Internal Service Error?

I’m getting resource limit errors. I guess the webhost is getting more demand by visitors than it is willing and/or able to handle.

On the otherhand, Patrick is pretty much acting like a spam bot posting Keiths stuff. For all we know, the two of them might be conspiring to automate the process of Keiths e-mail being posted in the comment section.

Spamming the site is a rule violation isn’t it, and spam can be deleted or blocked right?

You can put Patrick on ignore and kill two birds with one stone, if it bothers you.

  14. phoodoo: So they only way to see it is if someone happens to see my post asking for it?

Is this sort of like your shadow ban.

Neil and Alan banned shadows, now? Is there nothing that will stop them in their pursuit of ultimate power? Thanks Phoodoo

  15. I have to agree with John Harshman, I’m tired of reading J-mac’s stupid shit. There has to be a minimum standard for participation and in particular, OP’s, on this website. The blindly declaring, incoherent, sensationalist, and mostly stupid if not insulting bullshit pouring from this, I have to say in-need-of-institutionalization, individual, is polluting this website. It’s beneath EVERYONE else here, including others of our resident IDcreationist advocates, with whom at least conversation is possible.

I don’t mind disagreement, and I don’t mind people having a hard time understanding arguments, or having a hard time formulating coherent ones of their own, but when it comes packaged in brainless bravado, quantum-woo, what could easily be mistaken for strong symptoms of schizophrenia or similar personality disorders, and just plain stupid trolling then what purpose does it serve? Why does this discussion forum need the inmates of the fruitcake factory to scribble another thread that basically consists of a picture of a gliding snake, and then the (apparently?) rhetorically stated question of when we should expect it to sprout wings and fly?

Some things are just too fucking dumb. I’m halfway expecting him to declare he’s the reincarnation of Elvis, Napoleon Bonarparte, and Jesus.

We don’t need the quintessential Ray Comfort-level stupidity and ignorance (“so the first dog evolved, now it needs to wait millions of years for a mate with matching genitalia to evolve? Aint evolution just ridiculous!”) coupled with Trumpian levels of self-gratification and Dunning Kruger syndrome drooling over the website.

J-mac constantly posts new threads, despite the absolute poverty of content inside them, and it just becomes a stupid cesspool of trolling and counter-trolling. They take up space, and time away from much more interesting, if not at least half-way coherent discussions going on in other threads.

Oh and the same goes for Nonlin.org.

Why are these complete idiotis here? I vote to get rid of them, I’m tired of seeing their useless shit take up space. They’re not here to really argue about anything anyway (they certainly don’t care about persuasion), they’re just here to declare their denial in a mocking and trolling tone. I realize there’s an ignore feature, but it seems to me this website will just attract more and more of that kind of stupidity if nothing is done to get rid of it.

There has to be SOME minimum standard even if it’s hard to define. But I think those two bozo’s consistently fall short. Can we have a vote? If the majority want to keep them around I’ll accept the results and move on, but I honestly doubt there are that many other people around who see much value in their incredibly, incredibly stupid output. And I don’t care about the shitty claims of censorship that will no doubt entail from them, their behavior should already invalidate their opinions. There are more intelligent and rational IDcreationists around with posting priveleges on this website who I would rather have arguments and discussions than these two trollgimps.

Thank you, have a nice weekend.

Thank you, have a nice weekend.

I am sure Alan, Neil and Jock endorse this post.

Even when Alan is still a moderator he is still like Alan the moderator.

At least Rummy didn’t say take your meds. Now THAT would really get you in trouble.

  17. Rumraket,

I don’t agree with censoring anyone from ever doing an OP. But some have suggested limiting OPs from everyone, eg max 1 per week.

As far as I can see (by searching for ‘limit’), no one seems to have posted this idea for Lizzie’s consideration in the Summary thread.

Another idea would be to have the order of OPs on the home page list of OPs depending somehow on like’s/dislikes (in addition to time). For example, start home page with posts in the last month but sorted by votes. Something like this might be available in forum software.

  18. Rumraket,

phoodoo: I am sure Alan, Neil and Jock endorse this post.

I certainly think Rumraket makes some good points. I don’t mind the odd OP that is, frankly, drivel but it would be less noticeable if we had some OPs that had something interesting, new, challenging to say. It’s a problem. What’s the solution? Participation here is voluntary. Any ideas how our members could be encouraged to add some good OPs? Some new members? Could we encourage former participants to come back?

  19. Alan Fox:

Could we encourage former participants to come back?

After the Lizzie implements the new rules, email them and ask if the change might remove their reason for leaving. (As I recall, you have to supply an email address to register).

  20. Alan Fox: Could we encourage former participants to come back?

I would think banning bottom of the barrel posters like Jmac & Nonlin should help bring back some of those worthy participants, including theists that are most likely embarrassed by them

  21. Why don’t we all agree upon what kind of OPs the worshipers of Darwin want:
They want OPs that provide room for evolutionary or materialistic speculations…
They don’t want OPs that challenge their beliefs… They want OPs that contain what they want to hear and not the inconvenient truth….
Let’s set the rules for OPs straight:

    1. Please make sure your OP first contains what Darwinists want to hear
    2. Then, please make sure your OP contains what Darwinists want to believe
    3. Then, please make sure your OP contains everything else Darwinists agree with
    4. In the end, it’s preferred that your OP doesn’t contain truths… as Darwinists will not like them and will cry about them to the admins…

Who can argue with these sets of rules?

  22. John Harshman:
    J-Mac,

J-Mac makes a powerful case. For dazz.

I have no respect for people like you… I don’t have to explain why because it’s pretty obvious… I don’t know how you live with yourself but I guess blind faith makes it easier….

Just a few more things that Lizzie’s incredible, unsinkable, completely unbiased and fair moderator endorses:

Bang up job Alan, bang up fucking job.

    No wonder you won’t quit.

  24. phoodoo,
This, the moderation thread, is a No-Holds-Barred-rules zone. Currently.
Not sure why you are upset.

  25. J-Mac: They don’t want OPs that challenge their beliefs…

Actually, they do want their beliefs to be challenged. However, the creationist and ID nonsense is no challenge at all.

  26. Neil Rickert: Actually, they do want their beliefs to be challenged. However, the creationist and ID nonsense is no challenge at all.

    Great!
Why don’t they (Harashaman and the gang, including you) do an OP how evolution fits the criteria for the scientific theory? Or even how evolution fits the criteria of a scientific hypothesis?
I’m not going to ask you to do the same for abiogenesis…it would be too cruel…. lol
This is going to be so much fun!

Kids, get ready for the Russian circus… John Harsh and the gang will be entertaining…;-)

  27. J-Mac,

I quite agree that the dominance of trolls makes it uninviting to write an OP. That’s certainly why I haven’t tried one recently. We need a better class of creationists. Presumably one exists, but I don’t now how to attract them.

  28. Alan Fox:
Rumraket, I’d join Bruce in suggesting you could paste this into “summaries” thread.

This moderation policy expressed in the comment section of this post at Backreaction would also meet the RumRaket’s goal, I think, although I suspect it is a bit too strong for Lizzie:

Everyone who has recently complained that their comments do not appear:

I do not approve comments that promote your personal theory. Neither do I approve links to personal websites or youtube or vixra. I cannot edit comments, so it’s all or nothing. If you have a comment on [the topic of the OP], stick with it and scrape [scrap?] the rest.

  29. BruceS: After the Lizzie implements the new rules, email them and ask if the change might remove their reason for leaving.(As I recall, you have to supply an email address to register).

    Indeed.
