  1. Richardthughes: Mung, if you were made a moderator, you’d be the dog that caught the car.

    goggies!

    Secondhand Souls

Are you afraid that I’d rip a piece from your bumper?

JohnnyB was added to the list of mods to presumably reduce the complaints of bias. How has that worked out?

The really interesting question is whether my bias can match the bias of the existing mods. Can you track that?

  2. If I were to be given moderation powers, I might have to take a bunch of ass-wipes off ignore, which would presumably improve my tolerance for shit stains.

  3. Mung:

Still waiting for the mods to grow some balls. Make me a moderator and I’ll show you mine.

    Fantasy.

If I were to be given moderation powers, I might have to take a bunch of ass-wipes off ignore, which would presumably improve my tolerance for shit stains.

    Projection.

  4. Mung, Phoodoo, Frankie, Sal,
Why don’t you start your own blog and then you can be moderators all day long?

Oh, you’ll need a few dollars however. I can see that being a problem.

  5. most of the ID blogs have disappeared. “Something somewhere somehow did something.” is not enough to maintain the 2 or 3 that are left. UD’s been fading for years. Since the political maneuver failed, there’s nothing left to talk about. A new ID blog would be hopeless.

  6. Mung:
Posts in Moderation Issues ought to be restricted to discussing moderator actions, inactions, and suggestions for meeting/improving the goals of the site. We have Noyau for all the other shit that regularly appears in this thread.

I agree it makes sense for people to use appropriate threads. Sandbox is intended for off-topic comments and noyau for flaming

This has to be one of the most reasonable suggestions ever made by an IDist at this site, but Elizabeth thought that Moderation Issues ought to be indistinguishable from Noyau, which has to be one of the most fucked up and irrational decisions I’ve ever seen here at TSZ.

The rationale for the rules not applying in this thread is that it would prevent proper discussion of moderation decisions and policy. We don’t have a specific rule against off-topic comments. It’s a guideline which many, me included, sometimes find hard to follow.

Still waiting for the mods to grow some balls.

I think the fact we lack female voices here is a good part of the problem.

Make me a moderator and I’ll show you mine. As a bonus,I’ll show Richardthughes where to find Barry’s purse. That has to be priceless, right?

If this is a serious offer, I can pass it on to Lizzie. PM me.

  7. AhmedKiaan,

As a new member (though I seem to recall your being amused by my getting mixed up over the ad hominem fallacy many years ago at PT) may I invite you to try sandbox for general discussion. You could set a trend. You’re also very welcome to put up an OP if you feel inclined.

  8. Frankie: Now release my posts
That’s all you have to do

There are no comments from you currently needing release from moderation. All comments you have made have been approved and some have moved to guano. None have been deleted; all are visible. I, and I’m pretty sure other admins, release your comments as soon as they see the red flag that indicates a comment is “waiting moderation”, so I don’t see your problem. You need to build up some trust that you can be relied on to make more effort to stay within the rules before I can consider lifting pre-moderation. I find flurries of content-free one-liners particularly irritating. That’s a clue if you can take the hint.

  9. phoodoo:
Oh the trauma it must have caused. A whole fucking year crying about one photo.

That’s been Alan’s excuse for telling the others, say whatever you want to Frankie.

    The shame isn’t on Frankie.

The owner of the blog feels differently.

  10. newton: The owner of the blog feels differently.

This isn’t a blog. You don’t even know what a blog means. This is a public discussion site.

  11. phoodoo: This isn’t a blog.You don’t even know what a blog means.This is a public discussion site.

    From the about:

” I also hope that other people will join me in posting new OPs, so that it becomes a group blog, and that people will also offer to write guest OPs.”

    blog

    noun
    1.
a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.

  12. Frankie:
    This is so unfair,

Almost as unfair as not being able to comment at all at UD? Are you sending Barry multiple emails per day complaining about that? Maybe posting about the unfairness on your own blog?

As I said before, personally I’d let you comment without restriction because you’re such a good poster boy for what happens when IDC infests someone. I have to agree with Alan, though, that I see no reason to trust you to follow the rules if the restrictions were lifted. While it’s a pain in the neck to have to manually pass through all of your comments, it’s more of a pain to have to clean up after you make a mess.

  13. Mung:

I agree. Hopefully when Lizzie returns she’ll modify the rules to reflect your suggestion.

Still waiting for the mods to grow some balls. Make me a moderator and I’ll show you mine.

That is a powerful reason to never give you admin privileges.

  14. newton: I apologize, second worse, Joe G was the worst.

Demonstrably false- Richie, adapa, the whole truth, acartia and others are far worse than Frankie or JoeG has ever been.

  15. Patrick: Almost as unfair as not being able to comment at all at UD?Are you sending Barry multiple emails per day complaining about that?Maybe posting about the unfairness on your own blog?

Well Patrick, I am exposing you as a poseur who is clueless wrt science. You and yours are great for demonstrating what happens when evolutionism infests someone. It seems to turn you into intellectual cowards and clueless losers.

  16. AhmedKiaan:
is there an explanation somewhere of what the inexplicably-named threads are for?

On the contrary, the names are explicable! The explanations may be hard to find, perhaps. There’s some stuff in the OP of each page linked to in the header section directly under the penguin picture.

  17. Frankie: Demonstrably false- Richie, adapa, the whole truth, acartia and others are far worse than Frankie or JoeG has ever been.

You do know what “demonstrably” means, don’t you? Go on then, demonstrate!

  18. Alan Fox: You do know what “demonstrably” means, don’t you? Go on then, demonstrate!

Yes I do and anyone can read the posts, Alan. Richie is nothing but a stick poker and cheer leader. Adapa is a clueless troll who can only hurl insults- that is all supported by the evidence, ie their posts.

  19. And some moderator put one of my posts in guano even though it followed the rules

LoL! What does evolutionism have? Something changed and things kept changing for no reason and voila! The diversity of life

There isn’t anything wrong with that comment.

  20. Frankie: There isn’t anything wrong with that comment.

Except it was posted in the wrong thread. This thread is for discussing moderation issues. Didn’t you see my warning upthread?

  21. Frankie: Yes I do and anyone can read the posts, Alan. Richie is nothing but a stick poker and cheer leader. Adapa is a clueless troll who can only hurl insults- that is all supported by the evidence, ie their posts.

    Demonstrate!

  22. Frankie: Demonstrably false- Richie, adapa, the whole truth, acartia and others are far worse than Frankie or JoeG has ever been.

I had forgotten about whole truth. Maybe a tie for second, Joe G still the king.

  23. Alan Fox: Except it was posted in the wrong thread. This thread is for discussing moderation issues. Didn’t you see my warning upthread?

And yet Ahmed’s off-topic comment- the one I was responding to- remains…

  24. I must protest, on Frankie’s behalf, at the Guano-ing of his most recent comment. I started it.

  25. Frankie,

You’re right. {looks sternly in AM’s direction} I missed it because I happened to be helping a friend with a computer problem and took a couple of minutes to glance at at the admin panel only, missing the context.

  26. I said Allans post was uneducated and uninformed, so of course that went to guano. Seems the delineation between addressing the post and addressing the poster isn’t so clear, when its a theist doing it, huh Alan?

    More bullshit from you.

  27. phoodoo:

You have been told many times that if you have a gripe about moderation, report it in this thread.

    More bullshit from you.

I’m beginning to think that your intentions regarding TSZ are not constructive.

  28. Alan Fox: I’m beginning to think that your intentions regarding TSZ are not constructive.

Is it a rule that intentions must be constructive?

Why do YOU always break the rules?

Did my post address the post or the poster?

  29. phoodoo: Is it a rule that intentions must be constructive?

    Nope.

Did my post address the post or the poster?

If you mean the one that was about a moderation issue but not posted in the moderation issues thread, the reason it moved to guano was because it was about moderation issues and it was not posted in the moderation issues thread

  30. Alan Fox: Nope.

If you mean the one that was about a moderation issue but not posted in the moderation issues thread, the reason it moved to guano was because it was about moderation issues and it was not posted in the moderation issues thread

No, Alan, I said the other posts of mine that you moved.

You are like an American cop who is just dying to use his gun on a black man.

Its so hard to for you to wait until it appears appropriate.

  31. phoodoo: No, Alan, I said the other posts of mine that you moved.

    Which ones? Links, please.

You are like an American cop who is just dying to use his gun on a black man. Its so hard to for you to wait until it appears appropriate

    You are such a sweetheart.

  32. Alan Fox,

    Allan Miller:
    phoodoo,

One shouldn’t regard personal failure as a reflection on everyone’s capacity. But this would explain why you had no contribution to make to the thread on that very topic. As I said third post in, phoodoo objects to something, but it is impossible for anyone to articulate what it is …

That explains why I had nothing to add on the topic of there being no theory of evolution? What I am supposed to add, another NOT theory?

You seem to have nothing to add about where knowledge is stored in the genome, and about how you know that non-coding DNA has no function.

That is a completely uneducated and unfounded position. No wonder you don’t defend it.

    This Alan, THIS!

You are so trigger happy to use your guerilla skepticism, you can’t even remember when you started unloading your gun into the crowd.

    What rule did it break???

  33. phoodoo:
    Alan Fox,

You are so trigger happy to use your guerilla skepticism, you can’t even remember when you started unloading your gun into the crowd.

    What rule did it break?

On reflection, none. As you say, I was a little quick on the trigger there. I’ve restored it.

  34. phoodoo:

    Please reflect before acting, Alan.

  35. Alan Fox,

You’re right. {looks sternly in AM’s direction} I missed it because I happened to be helping a friend with a computer problem and took a couple of minutes to glance at at the admin panel only, missing the context.

Just to be clear, the post Frankie was complaining about was Ahmed’s of the 5th. I was the one complaining about Frankie being Guanoed wrt the comment to me on the 6th.

I fell on my sword, because it seemed unfair, but it’s two different conversations.

Although, if ‘O Endlessly Repetitious One’ is the worst thing anyone gets called this year, they’ve had a good ‘un!

  36. I always like to reflect after the fact. keiths likes to reflect before the fact. It’s like we’re the two opposite sides of the same coin. I feel a sudden closeness.

  37. I do seem to have stumbled into a strange nether world where I side with Frankie … over an insult directed at me … and no-one even notices!

To be honest, I wish I could opt out of Guanoing comments directed at me. Call me what the fuck you like, people; it makes no difference to the arguments.

  38. Allan:

    Amen.

    Allan Miller,

I think its time to get an agreement on the definition of step 3 of the scientific method.
    -test your hypothesis

What is considered a valid test.On that basis is common descent testable?

Is looking at historic evidence in itself a test?

Answer Dazz. You would need to understand what logical entailment means, but you’re obviously incapable of learning

This appears to violate the rules. Agree?
