{"id":35148,"date":"2016-06-06T19:15:41","date_gmt":"2016-06-06T18:15:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theskepticalzone.com\/wp\/?p=35148"},"modified":"2016-06-06T20:22:52","modified_gmt":"2016-06-06T19:22:52","slug":"talkrational-is-dead-long-live-talkrational","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/theskepticalzone.com\/wp\/talkrational-is-dead-long-live-talkrational\/","title":{"rendered":"Talkrational is Dead, Long Live Talkrational"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_35149\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/theskepticalzone.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/talk_rat_plog_black_letters_130H.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35149\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-35149\" src=\"http:\/\/theskepticalzone.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/talk_rat_plog_black_letters_130H-300x94.png\" alt=\"The talkrational.org logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"94\" srcset=\"http:\/\/theskepticalzone.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/talk_rat_plog_black_letters_130H-300x94.png 300w, http:\/\/theskepticalzone.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/talk_rat_plog_black_letters_130H.png 415w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-35149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The talkrational.org logo<\/p><\/div>\n<h4>The new forum is temporarily housed here:<a href=\"http:\/\/mcfrye.com\/tr\/index.php\/\" target=\"_blank\">Talkrational Zombie Forum<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>On May 23, the Talkrational database experienced a crash that left the post table broken. \u00a0Our Web Host, Arvixe, farted around for several days and let the last good backup of the database be overwritten with the borked version.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ve been singularly useless at recovering the database, but I have some slender hopes that we may be able to fully\u00a0or partially recover the post table without their &#8220;assistance&#8221;. \u00a0osmanthus, one of our members who knows a lot of peeps in the forum tech world has reached out to some database experts who would like to try to resuscitate the database.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Regardless of that effort, TR won&#8217;t be coming back in its earlier form. \u00a0If we are able to recover the database, we&#8217;ll probably leave it as an archived version of the site and move forward on a new forum software platform called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elkarte.net\/community\/index.php?\" target=\"_blank\">Elkarte<\/a>. \u00a0To that end, I&#8217;ve set up a forum on my personal server for the interim. \u00a0Sometime this week, the new forum will move to its own server and web host and we&#8217;ll continue to pick up the pieces.<\/p>\n<p>While the forum is on my server, the TR Charter is not in effect. \u00a0 My server doesn&#8217;t have the bandwidth or CPU to handle a lot of trolling, and neither does my brain. \u00a0For those of you who have joked about making me Imperatrix of TR, it&#8217;s a reality, albeit a temporary one!<\/p>\n<p>This weekend, my server was having a lot of performance issues due to the sudden influx of traffic to the new forum. \u00a0I&#8217;ve worked with my web host to resolve them, and things are looking a lot better today. \u00a0If you&#8217;ve tried to register and been unsuccessful, give it another try. Several folks have been able to register in the last few hours. If you&#8217;re unsuccessful, let me know here, or at the email address I put on the talkrational.org landing page.
